I recently finished a new sculpture, known as The Three Bears.

This is another sculpture in my series of work where I tend to portray my bronze castings in settings with amethyst geodes.

The bears were given a black patina and set on walnut.

Coincident with this, I cut one of my amethyst geodes the other day. One part I intended to use for a new rendition of my mining sculpture like McBride’s Mountain. The second part was a surprise. I had no plans for this piece but when some folks at the Calgary Rock and Lapidary Club suggested that I use this in conjunction with a casting of a sleeping animal, I realized that I could make another casting of the three bears and use this stone as a den.

So, I now have two new sculptures planned! These will again be wonderful pieces that are exceptionally unique.

These new sculptures should be finished in 2025, or even sooner.
