Work In Progress

This category shows how I cast bronze figurines, bronze sculptures, and other bronze curios. These are my Work-In-Progress postings.

violin girl

Beethoven 1

I’m casting my violin girl, also known as Beethoven. I am also doing another music stand, too. I am also continuing to test and adjust my automatic Facebook connection for this post. This posting is done on a scheduled basis to make sure that my web hosting provider doesn’t abort this posting during processing.

Pirate Bird Skeleton

Bird Skeleton – Complete

I took some pictures of my final pirate bird skeleton to post as a new item for sale on my website. I’ll put it up on Etsy soon. Some of my other pirate things like my pirate chest, hat, and skulls are not yet ready. I think I said that this bird would be most […]

Alice’s Adventures 3

I put Alice together today. I still need to polish her and do the final finishing work but Alice’s Adventure in bronze is mostly done.  Here are some pictures of today’s activities.  The adventure begins by pinning Alice.  The pin helps when I solder her torso together. In fact, I had to put her together […]

Alice’s Adventures 2

And now we come to The Casting of Alice.  We mix her up in a little bit of plaster and embed her in steel flasks. I presume this is quite an adventure? Last night I ran my kiln to melt Alice and burn out the wax models. This morning I started my electric furnace to […]

Alice’s Adventures 1

I am casting another Alice in Wonderland. What more could we wish for if we wanted a fabulous adventure full of words like jabberwocky and boojum and galumph and snark and snithy and vorpul. Completely nonsensical but, perhaps not? I’m starting a bronze cast of Alice mixed up in the middle of some consecutive gears. […]

Pirates 2

I’ve finished casting my pirate chests, bird skeleton, and some pirate hats. You’ll have to wait a bit longer for the pirate wench. She’s the one who is supposed to be wearing the hat. I’m quite proud of my pirate chests. They each weigh approximately 500 grams and are very solid. I have some hinges […]

pirates

Pirates 1

I am back to making bronze pirate things. I am casting a pirate chest, some shells, and a bird skeleton. I have had some problems creating silicone moulds for the pirate chest, but I think I have finally succeeded (on my 3rd attempt). I thought to show some pictures of what I cast today. You […]

Supergirl

Supergirl 3

I have mostly completed my second Supergirl. This one was cast using white bronze for her cape, boots, and uniform. I raised the copper on her cape and boots to provide the red color, but I didn’t much care for a silver colored costume. So, I used my cold enamel coloring to provide a more […]

skull

Halloween Skull

Halloween is coming, so today I cast a skull. This one is in white bronze. It stands 4 cm tall and weighs 190 grams and is mostly solid. It feels really nice when you hold it in your hand. I did drill out some of the wax from the bottom of the skull to manage […]
