Owls 1
I intend to make two special owl sculptures over the next number of months.
One sculpture will be of a barn owl and the other will be of two horned owls. These sculptures will be cast in a few different editions. One edition will be cast as individual traditional dark patina bronzes. With a traditional bronze I can compare and contrast this type of sculpture with the more colourful sculptures that I make with different patinas and enamels.
Another edition will be with a full colour patina to show the proper brown and white coloration of the owls. I will mount the two different owls on a walnut base.
The third single edition sculpture will set each owl inside or near a large amethyst geode. Each of these sculptures will be part of my amethyst and bronze series of work. The geodes are large. They weigh about 7 kilograms.
The moulds for these owls will be large. I will likely have to destroy the original models to create the mould.
When in wax I will adjust the sculpture to set the bronze owls inside the geode to make these sculptures special and unique.
