Description

This is a 1:8 scale bronze cast faerie sitting on a solid bronze cast twig.

The faerie was cast in a natural bronze made from copper and tin.

The twig and leaves and berries were cast in a silicon bronze. The leaves have been coloured slightly green with a cold enamel. The fruit has a slight red enamel colour applied. There is a small snail on one of the leaves. The snail has been cast in a white bronze.

The fairy has a patina applied to her dress to darken it. Her wings were cast in a yellow brass. Her hair is a yellow brass and her shoes and collar were cast in a white bronze.

A small red Swarovski crystal is placed in her hair.

The twig and the faerie’s dress were given a liver of sulphur patina.

The work is mounted on a custom fabricated marble base. A dark granite pedestal is pinned into the marble to support the faerie.

The whole sculpture weighs slightly more than 3 kilograms.

The white bronze includes 58% copper, 1% lead and various amounts of manganese, zinc and aluminum. The silicon bronze contains 95% Cu, 4% Si, 1% Mn. The natural bronze contains only copper and tin. The yellow brass has 63% copper, 1% lead, and various amounts of zinc and tin.
