McBride’s Mountain

NFS

This is a fascinating sculpture of an 1890’s prospector pushing his ore cart towards a mountain of gems.

A bronze sculpture of a mountain prospector is a beautiful and unique piece of art that captures the spirit of the great outdoors.

The ore cart has a liver of sulphur patina and the prospector has a ferric nitrate patina.

The amethyst geode used for this sculpture came from Sidi Rahal in Morocco.

The sculpture is mounted on walnut.

Description

In 2019 I decided to create an old mining sculpture that began with an 1890’s ore cart from an old gold mine.

When researching old ore carts to establish their dimensions I discovered photographs taken by Chuck McBride of an actual cart discovered in an old gold mine in California.

In recognition of his contribution I have named this sculpture “McBride’s Mountain”.

The amethyst geode was purchased from Bruno Burgermeister, a Swiss Canadian who fell in love with the mountains and forests of the Kootenays in British Columbia. Sadly, Bruno passed away in 2021.
